London!

When I first heard a song from the stage musical Lord of the Rings I was hooked! Lothlórien is such a wonderful song and different from what I ever heard. I visited the LOTR Musical website and found video-clips from the show with beautiful costumes and sets. Not long after that I saw a TV-documentary ‘The Making of LOTR’, and was amazed by what was asked of the actors. Not only do they act and sing, but they are acrobats and aerialists as well. Imagine what it is to sing while hanging in the air supported by nothing else but huge pieces of cloth. My mind was set, I had to see this show.

My SIL and I planned a trip to London this August, but we had to reschedule when we found out that LOTR will close on July 19th. I feel so lucky that I was able to buy tickets for July 10th! Can’t wait to see it on stage and hope that the experience is as breathtaking as I assume it is.

Our trip will be a relaxed one. We both visited London many times, so there’s no need for seeing the tourist attractions again. Bookshops are on the top of our lists, enjoying Starbucks, finding a spot on Trafalgar Square where we can sit and do some “people watching” 🙂 And of course visiting shows!

Thursday, July 10th it’s LOTR, Friday 11th: Joseph (I finally get to see Lee again!!), Saturday 12th: Spamalot, which is hilarious according to the reviews I read and heard. All in all a great list with maybe room for 1 more matinee 🙂

Leaving you with videos from my two favourite LOTR songs, till next time, stay healthy!

Star of Eärendil – Rosalie Craig as Arwen

Lothlórien – Laura Michelle Kelly as Galadriel

  7. The show lost money in Canada, where it originally opened. Moved to London and apparently hasn’t been the success they’d hoped for (how that is possible I don’t know as there were 492 performances and over 700,000 visitors). There are talks about it moving to Germany next, crossing my fingers as that means it’s still possible for me to go and see it.
I will certainly write a review when I get back Karen!

  9. […] is my absolute fav! What a voice and I loved her elegant hand movements (see clip in my previous LOTR post). Unfortunately I never got to see Laura Michelle Kelly play Galadriel – other than at the YouTube […]
