It’s good to be back

Last Tuesday the hospital changed my purple cast to a walking cast (I chose black this time, suits everything I wear and it doesn’t stand out). I hop around using crutches and it is so much better than spending the days in bed. The only thing that worries me is that it still hurts like h&$%, but the doc said that could well be the ligaments, which were severely bruised when I fell. As he studied medicine and I didn’t, I’m willing to believe him 🙂

Found out I didn’t break my ankle, but the bottom part of the fibula, right above the ankle. Not that it makes any difference, but I want to give my reader(s) the right information.

Just realized that this is a pic of a right leg and I broke my left leg. Oh well, minor detail.

I’m looking forward to visiting the blogs on my blog roll and am prepared to read A LOT. Hope to see you soon and when I stop by, I’ll leave a message.

Stay safe and healthy!

Some good news

The two pieces of the bone were in place and although there was still doubt, they were willing to give it a try without surgery *phew*

Got new plaster (purple!! :D) for three weeks, then I’ll have to go back to the hospital. If there’s enough new bone-mass growing (I have no idea how to translate this in English, lol) I’ll get ‘walking’ plaster for two more weeks. *crossing fingers*

I’ll keep you posted!

And it rains some more..

Broke my ankle last Monday, have to keep my foot up, which I can’t do at the computer.

Have to get back to the hospital coming Tuesday and hopefully the swelling will be gone and the bones in the right place. If so, I’ll get new plaster for 5 more weeks. If not, I’ll have to have surgery (send positive vibes my way please!)

I’ll try and check my mail every few days, but after 5 days offline I found 150 emails in my inbox right now and I can’t possibly reply to them all. Hope you’ll understand.

Stay healthy!

xx

When it rains it pours

Life is not fun atm and I don’t feel like blogging. But on the other hand, I do feel the need to express myself, so here I go. Just skip this post, it’s mainly to get things off of my chest 😉

I hate blogs where people moan about all the bad things that are happening in their lives. Yes, I know it’s a personal blog and people are entitled to their opinion. But we all know life isn’t whoopie-doopie-cloud9-happyfeeling 365 days a year and moaning about it won’t make it better.

Surfing the net (reading blogs, discovering gems) gives me some happiness and distraction from day to day life. But when someone goes on and on about depressing things, *I* get depressed. I stopped reading those blogs though and I don’t miss them either.

As lots of things are happening in my life right now, and I don’t want to make my readers feel depressed, I rather keep a low profile until I can write about happy things again 🙂

I’m waaay behind with my musical reviews, so I will try to focus on those. And I will make the occasional blogpost, but don’t expect regular postings from me (well, you’re used to me being NOT a regular poster, so in a way, there’s nothing changing :p)

Stay healthy, be safe and hug your loved ones!

Kids Cooking

You know… today I wondered if we watch Cooking programs too much…

The kids offered to make a cheesecake, without my help (“because we’re not kids anymore, responsible, blablabla” – you know what I mean). Glad they finally planned something together, other than fighting, calling names and annoying each other, I said okay.

I positioned myself in the living room, so that I could listen to what they were doing – open kitchen is around a corner, so I couldn’t see them and they could pretend I wasn’t there.

They crunched the cookies, melted the butter, put the two together and filled the baking tray with a perfect cookie base, smooth, no lumps, and came around to show it to me. I nodded in approval and while Manon turned around to go back to the kitchen again, she raised the tray above Sabine’s head and imitated one of the TV chefs, while saying: you can check if your egg whites are thoroughly whipped by holding the tray upside down above your head…

not keeping in mind that a cookie base is no-where-NEAR whipped egg whites, which will stick to the tray…

Yes, you guessed right, the whole base came out and covered Sabine and the floor with crumbs…

(I’ll give you a moment to visualize the scene…)

At this point I have two girls crying. Manon shouting: I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry. Sabine calling a fit – drama queen that she is – and shouting: you ruined my life, you did, you stupid &%$# (censored)

That was an hour ago. Manon offered to go to the grocery store and get some new cookies and butter, paying for it out of her own pocket, and I sent Sabine to go take a shower (and hopefully cool down a bit).

I think I’ll make myself a coffee and go sit on the couch again… listening to part 2 of ‘The continuing story of The Cheesecake’… tum-ta-dum-dum-daaa
