Remembrance Day

Anne Frank
On this important day I want to share with you my grandfather’s story…

You know there is a saying
That sunshine follows rain,
And sure enough you’ll realise
That joy will follow pain;
Let courage be your password
Make fortitude your guide,
And then instead of grousing
Remember those who died.

Poem (from Prisoners of War) by an unknown prisoner, written on the wall of his solitary cell. The poem was taken from the book, Prisoner of War: My Secret Journal, by Squadron Leader B. Arct.

  1. Hi Antoinette, that is such a sad story. So many people lost their lives. My hubby’s grandfather was shot by accident by the allied forces. He came out of the shelter too soon and they thought he was a German. We always get our kids downstairs too and remember together.

  3. It is a sad story, isn’t it, and just one of so many, which makes it even more sad.
