We’re back!

What a magical experience it was! We’re exhausted and broke, but we had such a wonderful time!

Two days of glorious sunshine and 24C, one day with a drizzle and 17C, the last day it poured and we were freezing! Can’t say Disney and rain go well together, or maybe it was because we were so tired and grumpy that made us decide to go home earlier than planned (2 PM instead of 7 PM). I’m glad we did as it’s a 6 hours drive and now we arrived home at a decent time, with a bit of the evening left to relax before we went to bed.

Sabine and Rink are roller-coaster addicts, so they had a blast! Manon and I enjoyed the parades and the shops and even went on a several rides.
I’m extremely proud of myself (and Manon as well) that we dared to enter the Tower of Terror. And Terror it was, I screamed my lungs out (the picture shows me terrified – Don’t you dare laugh at me!!)) and I will NEVER do it again, but at least I can say: I Did It, yay!
Same goes for the Thunder Mountain, the ride is not too frightening, but VERY fast. I spent the whole ride laughing because Sabine didn’t stop screaming, even when there was nothing to scream about. When I asked her if she was scared, she said: “No, but the screaming adds to the sensation”.
Right.

As Disneyland was decorated for Halloween, the villains were put in the spotlight. And they were my favourites. Especially Cruella De Vil and Maleficent.
The day we split up in two couples – Sabine and Rink went on a few rides and Manon and I explored the shops – S & R met Cruella (aaargh! can’t stand the fact that I missed this occasion). I saw her earlier that day but couldn’t get a decent picture as the crowd was enormous. The actress was wonderful (perfect posh English accent), she kept addressing the people as “Dahhhlings” and demanded someone spoke to her before she would sign the autograph books. “Speak, speak to me dahhhling, I don’t have time to stand here, there’s a man I have to see about some puppies”. Priceless.

If you care to see lots of Disney characters posing with the girls, feel free to explore my Picasa Disney Album.

I’ve been re-living our visit by watching videos at YouTube. Here’s one of the Halloween Parade – preceding the regular Disney Parade – filmed at Monday 13th, the first day of our visit 🙂

This is Halloween, this is Halloween,
Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, Halloween!

I love that song. I do have the original from the movie, but I haven’t found the Disney 2008 version yet. There’s another catchy song from the Once Upon A Time Parade, called: Just Like We Dreamed It, and I love that one as well. Found it online and we’re singing along several times a day.

Yes, we do miss Disney and we’ve already decided to visit again, hopefully around Christmas 2009 or 2010. Now we only have to wait until we win the lottery 🙂

  3. Sounds and looks like you had a great time – great video of the parade. The only time I’ve been to DLP was when I took my 7 year old daughter for New Years Eve. The temperature was -7C, there was at least an inch of snow on the ground and a lot of the waterfalls and fountains had frozen solid – but we still had a whale of a time. I remember we were the last back on the coach at 1.30am and the centre isle was covered in ice where the water from peoples shoes had frozen! Good luck on winning the lottery – I’ve got everything crossed too:-)

  5. I’m so glad you had a great time. Good for you, going on Tower of Terror–it’s one of our favorites. You should try it again–it gets easier. And Thunder Mountain–and, yes, screaming does make the ride better. So does holding your hands in the air for the whole ride. But the best part is sitting in the last car–much faster. I don’t know if the rides are the same, but on the one in the US, there is a goat with a stick of dynamite just before you round a sharp curve. Sitting in the last car, and looking at the goat as you go around, the ride is even better.

Disneyland at Christmas is gorgeous, btw.

As far as rides go, Splash Mountain is still one of my favorites, especially the one at Disneyland in California.

But you are closer to Florida, so you should start working up your courage to try Expedition Everest. Now, there’s a ride! *wink*

  9. Caroline, if you saw the Tower of Terror, you would be proud of me too 😀

CharmaineZoe, snow in Disneyland must be even more magical. The -7 isn’t quite the weather conditions you want for a ride in a rollercoaster though!

Lol Pat, I’ve never heard of the Expedition Everest, but the way you mention it, I’m sure it’s not for me, but I think Rink & Sabine would enjoy it. Splash Mountain is their favorite too.

Desiree, I know exactly what you mean. Whenever I watch the video I can feel the ‘homesickness’. I want to go back asap!
