Remembrance Day

Anne Frank
May 4th is Remembrance Day in the Netherlands. As I did last year, I’ll provide a link as I want to share my grandfather’s story…

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”

From the poem ‘For the Fallen’ by Laurence Binyon

  1. That is a powerful story Antoinette. Thank you for letting us share it with you. I visited the house the Anne Frank was hidden in when I was in Amsterdam many years ago. Even though it was jam packed with tourists filing through it was still one of the most atmospheric places I have ever been to.

    Remembering is important (our day of commemoration for the wars is 25 April – Gallipoli Day). Once we stop remembering properly then we’ll just do it all again.
