Not only do I love London, but I love souvenirs as well. Call it my guilty pleasure, I don’t care!
So, while browsing the internet, looking for another item “I just have to own” I found something that’s not only a souvenir but very handy as well.
It’s available at: Alternative Oyster and it’s an Oyster Card holder. The card itself is the size of a credit card, and I suppose a credit card/bank card will fit in too, so I can use it even when I’m not in London and be reminded of my favourite city every single day π
Now, don’t you agree that this is an item I can’t do without??!
For days people had been camping out on Trafalgar Square to witness the ‘red carpet’ scenes for the world premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows II, the final, very very last movie of the series.
As much as I’d wanted to be there, I would never camp out for three days in the pouring rain. Having said that, it must have been awesome and a worthy story telling to your grandkids ‘yes dear, grandma was there’.
Oh well, I watched the livestream and cried as much as I would’ve done at the spot, so the experience is somewhat the same.
After months of feeling… empty, with no desire to create anything at all, I finally found some inspiration!
At the time it seemed a great idea to put the freebie online at Worldwide Christmas Scrapbooking Freebies and ask people to participate in a Christmas challenge. But now I doubt that the idea was that good, as no one actually jumped in and sent me a layout using the freebie WordArt.
Oh well, I can’t be bothered, I had fun creating and – although I’m afraid to say it out loud *knocks wood* – I’m happy that I found my mojo again π
The Internet is an amazing thing, it really opened up the world and gave us the opportunity to meet people from another country we wouldn’t have met otherwise.
Years ago I met Karen from Scraps of Mind online and we visited each other’s Blogs regularly. I was lucky to meet her in person when she visited Amsterdam in 2009.
This year she planned another holiday to Europe, including a stop in Leiden, as I suggested I’d be her tourguide when she would return.
As promised, on a sunny day in May (urgh – I’m so behind with my Blog posts!) I showed Karen and her daughter Seona the most important sights in Leiden (you can only do so much in a few hours). The weather was cooperating – Β in fact it was so sunny that Seona got a sunburn! – had a delightful lunch in the open air, walked a bit more and then sat down for the rest of the afternoon on a sunny terrace where we drank our cokes and talked, talked, talked. I had an awesome time and I believe they did as well π
Not only did I forget my thoroughly prepared tourplan, so I had to improvise, but I also forgot my camera. That’s why I ‘borrowed’ the pic Seona took of Karen and me – as I have to give proof of the happy occasion!
Thanks for a wonderful day, Karen and Seona, I won’t forget Lady Mondegreen (sorry readers, inside joke) and I do hope to meet you both again π
Although I wasn’t really surprised when I heard that Chantal would be Galinda (for those not familiar with Dutch theatre, Chantal has played in almost all big productions for the last few years) part of me was really hoping for a surprise. Noortje (see my Mary Poppins reviews) once said that Wicked is one of her favourite musicals and I personally think she would be perfect as Galinda.
But… let’s not give up hope yet, the Dutch production of Wicked will be a long running production in Scheveningen and rumours are Willemijn – after being Elphaba for hundreds and hundreds of performances in Germany – doesn’t want to complete what could be a two year run and will step out before the final performance. I assume Chantal probably will step out too at a certain point, or cut down on the amount of performances a week.Β So… eventhough I won’t put my money on it, I have a feeling that there’s a chance we will see Noortje as G(a)linda at one moment… *crosses fingers*
It goes without saying that a visit to the Dutch Wicked is at the top top top of my list, highest priority, in the lead, ranked #A1, precedency π
